Introducing Author Follow on Audible

If you write, then you’re a writer. These words have propelled many a young author through moments of self-doubt, bouts of imposter syndrome, and the dreaded doldrums of writer’s block. But if we could expand that adage for the indie publishing community, we’d say that if you write, then you’re a writer, agent, publicist, director, and your own personal assistant. Still, we know that while you’re building that multi-platform social media campaign to promote your latest audiobook, you’re wearing your mental bumper sticker that says “I’d rather be writing.” You are a writer first, and you need your marketing efforts to work harder for you so you can get back to doing what you love most—telling the stories that leave listeners wanting more. Introducing Author Follow—an exciting new feature that lets listeners (and readers) follow their favorite authors on Audible and Amazon, and alerts them of the new releases they’ve been waiting for so you don’t have to. Here’s how it works:

  1. You have an author page on Audible.

Think of this as your home page on Audible. It’s where listeners can go to read more about you, view your entire audio catalog, and learn where else they can find you, so make sure it’s up to date with your profile picture, bio, bibliography, and any website or social links you want to share. You can find yours by visiting a Product Detail Page (PDP) for any one of your titles and clicking on your name. If you don’t have an author page yet (or if yours needs a little sprucing up), you can set one up on Amazon Author Central.

  2. Listeners click the ‘follow’ button on your author page.

Let your listeners know through your social media, website, and newsletters that they can now follow you on Audible to keep track of your new audio releases. Audible will also suggest you as a follow to listeners who have followed similar authors, so you’ll gain new listeners who are looking for content like yours!

  3. Listeners receive notifications every time you have a new release.

Your followers will receive notifications on Audible every time you publish a new audiobook—and since Author Follow automatically syncs with Amazon, your followers will automatically follow you on Amazon and get notifications when you publish new e-books too.

  4. You sell more audiobooks and reach more listeners!

Boost your listeners without the added lift of a major social media campaign. We’re excited for you to be discovered by even more of the audiophiles who love you, and we hope this feature frees you up to do more of what you do best—writing.
